US House Approves Pakistan Aid
Measure

COPAA President Adnan Khan in a meeting at the United States Capital with Speaker of the
House Nancy Pelosi discussed Pakistan related issues and IDP's on June 10th 2009
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi informed COPAA President that she is working to help
Pakistan and is very aware of the issues faced by Pakistan and it's people. She informed the
COPAA President that on June 11th Pakistan Aid package will be approved by the United
States Congress.
COPAA would like to thank The US House of Representatives and Speaker of the House
Nancy Pelosi on June 11th 2009 for approving a bill to provide Pakistan $1.5 billion annually in
aid till 2013. The House Thursday voted 238-183 to triple the US annual aid to Pakistan.
The House measure is designed to strengthen Pakistan's democratic institutions, judicial and
education systems, and funnel assistance to agriculture and rural development and support
access to education and development for women.
COPAA Board will hold Friday prayer at the United States Capital building along with Muslim
members of the United States Congress in July. We invite anyone who would like to join us for
the Friday namaz date to be announced.
